Foundations in Coding introduces you to programming as a practical skill for solving real-world problems. Using Python, you will learn what code is, how computers execute it, and how to develop and structure small programs. The course also covers the basics of testing, documentation, and writing high-quality code.

Along the way, you will explore why software development practices such as functions, testing, documentation, and object-oriented programming are important for creating software that is easier to maintain, modify, and share with others. The course focuses on building a broad understanding of core programming concepts rather than advanced topics.

This course prepares you for Foundations in Algorithmic Thinking, and both courses are required before taking the programming project in Semester 3.
